Updatemania @ DEVONtechnologies
Coeur d'Alene (Idaho, USA), March 17, 2011 — DEVONtechnologies, LLC announces that all editions of its high-end information manager DEVONthink and the intelligent note-taking application DEVONnote are now available in version 2.0.9. DEVONnote, EasyFind 4.7.1, and XMenu 1.9.2 are now also available on the Mac App Store, and DEVONthink To Go 1.1 has been submitted to the iOS App Store for review. DEVONthink is the #1 app on the Mac for serious information management featuring unique artificial intelligence technology. DEVONthink To Go is DEVONthink's and DEVONnote's companion for all iOS devices.
"With DEVONnote, EasyFind, and XMenu we stick to our plan to make all our apps, commercial or free, available on the Mac App Store, and with all these updates we continue with our commitment to constantly improve all our applications with new features and important bug fixes," comments Eric Böhnisch-Volkmann, DEVONtechnologies' President.
Version 2.0.9 of all editions of DEVONthink and DEVONnote brings, first of all, an updated conduit for DEVONthink To Go fixing a number of bugs. The older conduit e.g. transferred, accidentally, only the first 1 KB of data of indexed text so that larger documents were not completely searchable, and could crash when sending very large files.
In addition DEVONthink Pro Office 2.0.9 allows to properly archive mailboxes from any supported email client skipping messages archived earlier. This makes it possible to regularly 'sync' a mailbox with the archive in DEVONthink to keep the archive up-to-date. DEVONthink Pro and up can rebuild the global inbox database, too, and allow renaming or moving database packages even when the database is open. The Sorter has been improved and is more reliable now. All editions of DEVONthink feature a new command for moving the contents of an indexed group to the linked folder in the filesystem and install the Dashboard widgets from the Install Add-Ons window. Both DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.0.9 insert the URL of the frontmost window, e.g. from Safari, when taking a new note, and enable text replacements on Mac OS X 10.6. DEVONtechnologies has also sped up classifying, see also, searching, summarizing, and the concordance (DEVONthink Pro and up only) and made them more accurate. A number of bugs and glitches has been fixed, too.
"The ability to uni-directionally sync mailboxes with DEVONthink Pro Office — a feature often requested by our users — greatly enhances the usability of email archiving for those who also want to keep their messages also in Mail, not only in their databases," says Eric Böhnisch-Volkmann, DEVONtechnologies' President.
Coinciding DEVONtechnologies has also submitted DEVONthink To Go 1.1 to the iOS App Store for review. The new version fixes a large number of bugs and glitches making the app much more reliable. The company has also added support for .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx files as well as unknown file types. Users can quickly capture voice and video notes, the app shows the flagged status, the labels, and detail information about items in all lists, and images are saved as PDFs after OCR (requires DEVONthink Pro Office for Mac). A new crash reporter delivers reports directly back to DEVONtechnologies which help fixing bugs much faster in the future.
"This release of DEVONthink To Go is the first of many updates to come. We have listened to our users, fixed the most pressing issues, and added frequently requested features such as voice notes. For the next updates we have many further enhancements on our list such as renaming, moving, and deleting items directly on the device," so Eric Böhnisch-Volkmann, DEVONtechnologies' President.
Finally, DEVONtechnologies has updated EasyFind to version 4.7.1 and XMenu to version 1.9.2 and made them available on the Mac App Store. The new version of EasyFind understand 'traditional' wildcards (again) when searching for file names and uses an updated internal service for communication with DEVONthink Pro (and up), and supports the simple '*' operators in phrases.
