DEVONagent Express included (and some bug fixes)

Coeur d'Alene (Idaho, USA), Jun 9, 2011 — DEVONtechnologies, LLC releases the last public beta of the smart Internet research assistant DEVONagent 3.0 with new features and plugins as well as a maintenance release for all editions of DEVONthink, the #1 information and document manager for the Mac, and for its smaller brother DEVONnote.

The menu extra introduced with DEVONagent 3.0 public beta 3 is now also available when DEVONagent itself is not open, just like DEVONagent Express (available separately for US $4.99 on the Mac App Store). The new beta adds also plugins for YouTube, Google Video, Twitter, and Facebook Profiles. The new 'express' mode returns results much faster than the 'agent' mode, but unfiltered. Pages and objects of any kind can be added to the built-in archive and a new email function makes sending automated reports much more reliable.

"The menu extra, which basically brings the functionality of DEVONagent Express free to all DEVONagent users, puts web search where it belongs: into the menu bar, accessible from everywhere on your Mac, at any time, and easy to use. And as YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook are part of most peoples' online lives today and are used for both at work and at home, we support them natively in DEVONagent. Search Twitter was never smarter," comments Eric Böhnisch-Volkmann, DEVONtechnologies' President.

The new, completely rewritten welcome and support assistant, already known from DEVONthink and DEVONnote, helps the user getting started with tips, on-screen tutorials, and easy-to-install extras such as even more plugins and scripts. In addition some plugins and scripts have been rearranged, the digest and the reports restyled, and a new simple style sheet for RSS feeds makes reading news easier on the eyes.

"The welcome screen is what our users meet first when they open our apps. And so we wanted to make it as useful as possible. Our regularly updated tips and tutorials help getting into the app, and with just a single click users can now install new plugins or scripts without ever visiting our web site. We continue making our apps easier to use without sacrificing the pro-grade functionality that makes them famous," says Eric Böhnisch-Volkmann, DEVONtechnologies' President.

DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.1.1 come with the same new RSS style sheet and a number of important bug fixes, e.g. for the Sorter and the Clip to DEVONthink panel. The DEVONthink To Go conduit handles packaged file formats, e.g. iWork, much more reliable.
