DEVONthink 2.9.16 speeds up synchronization, makes it more efficient
Coeur d'Alene (Idaho, USA), October 19th, 2017. — DEVONtechnologies updates all editions of its intelligent information and document manager DEVONthink for Mac with sync enhancements and performance improvements. Version 2.9.16 allows to import multiple databases from a remote location at the same time, cleans up sync locations more aggressively, and makes the synchronization more efficient. Finally the updates bring compatibility fixes for macOS High Sierra. They are free and recommended for all users.
DEVONthink is DEVONtechnologies' document and information management solution for the Mac. It supports a large variety of file formats and stores them in a database enhanced by artificial intelligence (AI). Many document formats can be directly viewed and edited, PDFs annotated. DEVONnote is DEVONthink's little sibling with a reduced feature set targeted at users with notetaking-centric needs.
Sophisticated organization tools, AI-based techniques that handle even the largest collections, and numerous integration options make DEVONthink the work environment of choice for researchers, lawyers, and educators. With its fast, reliable, and secure synchronization users keep their data available on all their Macs. DEVONthink To Go for iPad and iPhone completes the DEVONthink ecosystem.

New in DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.9.16
Version 2.9.16 of DEVONthink brings enhancements to the built-in synchronization. Multiple databases can now be imported from a sync location at the same time to take the pain out of setting it up on a new machine. Connections to WebDAV servers, Box.com, and Dropbox are more reliable, and sync credentials are stored separately now to avoid issues related to macOS' sometimes flaky preferences handling.
When a preferred sync location is not available, e.g., when the user is not logged into the office network, pending items are automatically downloaded from other available locations. Finally, synchronizations after merging are more efficient, the metadata of just downloaded pending items is not re-uploaded unnecessarily, and sync locations are more aggressively cleaned up. This improves the synchronization speed especially of databases containing news feeds or with devices that are synchronized just now and then.
Other enhancements in version 2.9.16 include better handling of Finder tags, a cleaner Data menu, and a smarter OPML import. Importing and indexing files is slightly faster, and moved or renamed databases are more reliably recognized. And lastly, DEVONthink 2.9.16 fixes a number of issues related to PDF annotations, the new AFPS file system, and the Touch Bar on computers running macOS High Sierra. DEVONnote 2.9.16 receives the relevant improvements and bug fixes from its siblings, too.
The updates for all editions of DEVONthink and DEVONnote are free for existings users and highly recommended.
