A few weeks ago Apple announced OS X 10.9 Mavericks and so here’s our first release of DEVONthink and DEVONnote optimized for the upcoming new version of your favorite operating system! But that’s, of course, not enough. DEVONthink 2.6 adds automatic updating of indexed folders, and directly imports references from Bookends and notes from Evernote. (mehr)
I had the cool chance to meet Science Fiction and Fantasy novel writer Tobias Buckell, who is also a heavy-duty user of DEVONthink. He’s originally born in the Caribbean but now living in the USA. He published his first story in Science Fiction Age magazine in early 2000 and has sold about 20 short stories to anthologies and magazines. In 2005, Tobias’ new novel “Crystal Rain” and his story collection “Tides From The New Worlds” are due to come out. (mehr)
I n our user forum, via Twitter, and by email quite a few of you are asking us about the future of DEVONthink To Go, the iOS companion to DEVONthink for Mac. I already mentioned that we’re working on a new release and so I want to give you an update on our progress. (mehr)
DEVONthink and Bookends work nicely together: DEVONthink Pro and up come with a smart template for quickly linking to references in Bookends, accept references dragged over from your collection, and Bookends can store “item links” for any document in DEVONthink. Just recently Sonny Software released Bookends 12 with an exciting set of new features. Check it out! (mehr)
This maintenance release brings DEVONthink and DEVONnote to version 2.10.1. We have focused much of our efforts on making syncing use less resources, increasing its reliability, and syncing frequent changes more quickly. We have improved indexing EPUB and Tinderbox files, and have better support for text clipping created with macOS Sierra and later. (mehr)
All of us here at DEVONtechnologies wish you and your family Merry Christmas. We wish you peaceful holidays, wherever in the world you are, whatever you believe in, and whatever culture you are part of. Have a great start into an exciting new year 2015! (mehr)
Last night our latest maintenance update for DEVONthink To Go has passed Apple’s review. Version 2.6.2 allows settings flags and labels using URL commands, removes path extensions from the name of files imported from, e.g., the Files app, and warns before adding a database with pending items to a new sync location. In addition the update fixes bugs and improves the overall stability and reliability. (mehr)
Sychronization via iCloud was the no. 1 feature request on our list. And here we go: DEVONthink 2.10 and DEVONthink To Go 2.6 let you keep your databases in sync via iCloud and without entering anything except for the optional encryption password. No messing around with sync store names, server addresses, or login credentials. Add the iCloud sync location, check off the databases you want to sync, done. It can’t be any easier. (mehr)
Today I had the honor to give a 45-minute presentation at my former college, the Stuttgart Media University (Hochschule der Medien, HdM), on my zig-zag career path, our products from DEVONthink to DEVONsphere, and about how to build an Internet startup. It was a lot of fun being back in the hallowed halls again and meet some fantastic customers who use our apps intensively for their research and educational work.
