After three betas our next-generation sync has finally reached production status. Today we’ve released DEVONthink 2.9 with our completely rewritten synchronization. It’s built for speed, robustness and flexibility. It works both on the local network, with any removable volume, as well as with internet-based services such as Dropbox or WebDAV servers. (mehr)
OS X El Capitan became just available as public beta. Right in time, DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.8.6 bring important compatibility changes for it. In addition, DEVONthink 2.8.6 supports images referenced in Markdown documents. When importing Bookends references, DEVONthink imports their keywords too. PDF text annotations created by other applications keep their appearance. They are only restyled as soon as you edit them with DEVONthink. (mehr)
We announced that public beta 2 would be the final beta but we found what we hoped we would(n’t) find: critical bugs. So, here’s public beta 3 with important bug fixes.
In the meantime we’re polishing DEVONthink To Go 2.0’s user interface in preparation for the App Store submission. (mehr)
In the past weeks we have corrected many minor issues in our upcoming next-generation sync technology. Before we launch it as part of the official releases of DEVONthink and before DEVONthink To Go 2.0 hits the App Store, here’s a second and final public beta for you to install and try out. (mehr)
In their company blog, Fournova publishes short articles from other software developers. They talk about how to build a sustainable business. This month it was my turn. I wrote about not spreading yourself too thin and getting caught in daily busyness instead of focusing on what’s really important. (mehr)
It’s no secret that we have been working for quite some time on a new sync technology (code name: “DEVONcloudy”, our little cloud). It replaces the Mac-to-Mac sync presently part of DEVONthink for Mac and will be the foundation of the upcoming DEVONthink To Go 2.0. (mehr)
DEVONagent helps you find whatever you’re looking for using the search engines of choice. Version 3.8.1 gives you even more accurate results, skips Amazon results, and comes with updated MacUpdate plugin and Twitter Accounts scanner. In addition, DEVONagent Pro 3.8.1 executes menu scripts in the background now. So they no longer interrupt your important research work. The update fixes an incompatibility to DEVONthink 2.7.6, too. Recently we had to pull the freeware application Grid from the App Store. Grid allows you to position windows using your keyboard and an on-screen grid. Unfortunately Apple’s strict sandboxing rules no longer allow third-party apps access to e.g. the Accessibility kit which Grid needs to move the windows. (mehr)
Just a quick note that we have just released DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.8.11. The update brings, among many more detail enhancements, a revised view/edit pane and better compatibility to RSS 1.0 feeds. Automatically opened panels such as the Activity or Log panels are no longer activated by default. This way they don’t unnecessarily interrupt your workflow. (mehr)
On February 26th we announced that we’ll soon start beta testing DEVONthink To Go 2.0 with a limited number of testers. Today we added the first batch of testers to Test Flight. Over the course of the next weeks we’ll add batch by batch. (mehr)
