One of the new features introduced with DEVONagent 3 is the ability to not only search HTML pages and news feeds but also PDF, PostScript, OpenOffice, Oracle Open Office, and Microsoft Word documents. To make DEVONagent search also these other document types, expand the search window, switch to the Settings tab, and select the file types you want to search in the Files area. Then run your search. PDF and other documents show a little file type icon in the Results list. (mehr)

After seven months of public beta testing we have released DEVONagent 3.0 today. And because it’s the best (re)search assistant we’ve ever made we now call it DEVONagent Pro :-) We made it compatible to OS X 10.7 Lion, of course, support 64 bit mode, and have updated or rewritten all plugins. If you’re a JSTOR fan, SEC website user, or lawyer researching on LexisNexis: DEVONagent Pro supports them all now, too. (mehr)

Right before Christmas we have uncovered an agent that worked (and has been worked on) in the underground for quite a while: DEVONagent 3.0. For quite a while we have been talking about adding sync capabilities to DEVONthink that allow to sync databases between multiple Macs. I am proud to announce that today we have distributed the first alpha to our team of beta testers with another (and last) alpha following early August before we start the public beta test in later August. Today we have submitted DEVONthink To Go 1.0.2 to Apple for App Store review. The new version comes with tons of bug fixes for the synchronization as we as for the overall stability. As promised we are ironing out the most pressing problems with every 1.0.x release now while preparing a larger 1.1 release with completely revisited inner mechanics and new features in early 2011. The update will show up automatically on your device as soon as it has been approved by Apple.

If you are, like us, excited about the upcoming release of OS X 10.7 Lion then you will also like this news: We have just released version 2.2 of DEVONthink and DEVONnote which makes them fully compatible to Lion. Install this update and you don’t need fear the beast.

Just a quick note that we have today released version 2.0.6 of all editions of DEVONthink and of DEVONnote. The update fixes bugs, e.g. the ‘Sync group missing’ bug that affected only some Macs but not all of them. It also brings better integration with Spotlight and improves the overall performance. Use your applications’ built-in update function or download the new versions on our Download page. (mehr)

If you are using the MacUpdate Desktop app to update the software on your computer please be careful: DEVONthink Pro and Pro Office are using the same “Bundle ID” to make both of them compatible to e.g. the same scripts and Automator actions. Unfortunately MacUpdate Desktop is using the Bundle ID for identifying updates. So it can happen that it, out of confusion, updates a DEVONthink Pro to a Pro Office or vice versa which then of course, asks for a proper license code. (mehr)
