Labels, annotations, usability: DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.7.4
Coeur d'Alene (Idaho, USA), March 27, 2014 — DEVONtechnologies, LLC updates all editions of its information and document manager DEVONthink as well as its smart notebook app DEVONnote and bumps their version number to 2.7.4. The update brings interface, usability, and performance enhancements as well as bug fixes. The updates are absolutely free and recommended for all users.
Colored labels are an easy way to mark files important to you since Apple introduced them in 1991. Today's maintenance update to version 2.7.4 gives you more control over how they show in DEVONthink and DEVONnote: by tinting as in the old days, as a bubble around the document name, or as a colored dot.
All editions of DEVONthink also allow you to annotate PDFs with lines and arrows. Creation date and user name are automatically added to new annotations. If you need to share documents with friends by email, AirMail is now supported, too. Importing notebooks from Evernote skips already imported items. Copy still images from movies using the contextual menu.
Other changes in version 2.7.4 focus on appearance and enhanced usability: multiple selected items are highlighted much clearer, the Instagram reformatting option of the Clip to DEVONthink web browser extension is more properly named, and menu items showing recent destinations or favorites avoid ambiguity.
Finally, we have made DEVONthink Pro Office's popular ScanSnap integration more reliable on OS X Mavericks and improved drag-and-drop from not-so-well integrated Mac apps like Firefox. As always, the updates fix some usually harmless bugs and improves the performance.
“A personal document manager has to adopt to your needs. That's why we've made large parts of DEVONthink and DEVONnote customizable, from the various window layouts to what columns are visible. Show just what you need, make labels more prominent or reduce them to little colored dots. Make it your DEVONthink", comments Eric Böhnisch-Volkmann, President of DEVONtechnologies.
