Last night Apple has sent DEVONthink To Go 1.4.1 through their review and to the App Store. This maintenance update fixes a crash introduced with the previous version which was caused by the reworks necessary for supporting the new CPU architectures of recent iPhones and iPads. Use the App Store app on your device to get the free update.
Today Apple has approved our maintenance update for DEVONthink To Go. Version 1.4 updates the app to the modern iOS 7 interface while keeping it backward-compatible to iOS 5 and 6 at the same time. It also fixes a number of issues on iOS 7 as well as synchronization problems with the Mac. Fixed are, among others, a crash related to the rich text editor, Numbers documents no longer being displayed, name changes not being synced back to the Mac, crashes related to deleting items on the Mac, and issues with deleting databases. Last week we released DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.7 with exciting new features such as encrypted synchronization. Unfortunately the update also “featured” two hindering issues: When the Sorter starts after logging in, e.g. after a system restart, DEVONthink itself opens in addition to the Sorter. And if your Mac runs OS X 10.6.x or 10.7.x, DEVONthink is no longer visible to DEVONthink To Go on your Wi-Fi network. (mehr)
The recent update of DEVONthink to version 2.7 unfortunately brought not only many improvements but also two cumbersome bugs: When the Sorter starts after logging in, e.g. after a system restart, DEVONthink itself opens instead of the Sorter. And if your Mac runs OS X 10.6.x or 10.7.x, DEVONthink is no longer visible to DEVONthink To Go on your Wi-Fi network. Sorry for these inconveniences. Expect a bugfix release shortly.
While DEVONthink To Go is already on the OP table, prepared for the forthcoming transition to the new sync technology, we have just pushed a minor update to version 1.2.5 to Apple for review. The update brings updated graphics for the iPad 3 Retina display, continues to record voice notes when the device is locked, and fixes a number of bugs. (mehr)
If you have many apps installed on your iPhone or iPad that can handle the same file types, e.g. PDFs, it can happen that one or the other does not longer appear in the Open In menu that allows you to send files from one app to another. In iOS 5 the limit seems to be ten apps. So if you want to send a file to, e.g., DEVONthink To Go and you don’t see it listed it may be that you simply have too many apps on your device that can open this file type. (mehr)
Cool tip from one of our users: the US $1.99 app TurboScan turns your iPhone into a mobile scanner. Using the Open in… mechanism you can even send the created PDFs to DEVONthink To Go.
It’s update season here at DEVONtechnologies — and you shouldn’t miss it! We have added new functionality and eye candy, made all apps faster and more reliable, and, of course, fixed dozens of bugs and glitches. And we have added a brand new freeware app: Grid!
While we are working hard on behind-the-scene changes for a totally new sync technology that will soon do away with the current problems we have released two other new features this weekend for DEVONthink To Go: a brand new PDF viewer and a new rich text editor that allows you to use formatted text on your iPad or iPhone. This makes it now possible to view even very large PDF documents including scans on your device without making the app quit due to memory limitations and to edit formatted text, something iOS does not yet offer itself like OS X does. Of course, DEVONthink To Go 1.2.1 fixes a large number of bugs, too, and is fully compatible to iOS 5.
Today we have submitted DEVONthink To Go 1.0.2 to Apple for App Store review. The new version comes with tons of bug fixes for the synchronization as we as for the overall stability. As promised we are ironing out the most pressing problems with every 1.0.x release now while preparing a larger 1.1 release with completely revisited inner mechanics and new features in early 2011. The update will show up automatically on your device as soon as it has been approved by Apple.
