We have just released DEVONthink (all editions) and DEVONnote 2.7 with great new features and improvements. DEVONthink 2.7 now encrypts all metadata and all contents stored in remote sync locations such as Dropbox, WebDAV, or AFP. No other document management app on the Mac gives you so much flexibility and control over you data! (mehr)
Yesterday I posted an interview with my friend Prof. Dr. Frank Thissen who works as an educator and researcher at the Stuttgart Media University. And just today Emily VanBuren, a PhD student in History at Northwestern University, blogs about her experiences with DEVONthink Pro Office. (mehr)
Through the built-in Support Assistant we have offered slideshow-based tutorials for DEVONthink, DEVONnote, and DEVONagent Pro for a while now. Today I have added the first batch of video tutorials for DEVONthink Pro (Office). The tutorials explain step-by-step how to work with multiple databases in DEVONthink, adjust the database and import properties, and import and index files. Additional tutorials about tagging and using the smart A.I. features of DEVONthink are already in the works.
You didn’t know that there are step-by-step tutorials available right from inside our apps? You’re not alone and so we have made them more visible in DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.3.5 with a large button on the welcome screen and their own menu command in the Help menu. And if you fight the email flood with Apple Mail rules, you’ll like our new scripts for automatically archiving email attachments. Once set up you can email documents to yourself and have them automagically added to your inbox — and you have full control over which messages are processed and which not. (mehr)
Just a quick note that we have updated the scripts Rename using RegEx and Export Metadata as CSV, which are available as manual downloads through the built-in Support Assistant. To install these scripts choose Scripts > More Scripts, search the script in the list, and click Install. If you have the script already installed, remove it first, then re-install it to get the new version.
We have just updated all editions of DEVONthink as well as DEVONnote to version 2.3.4 with a number of little enhancements and bug fixes. Better integration of DEVONthink Pro Office with ExactScan Pro, updated scripts for import email messages to DEVONthink Pro, and a new Activity panel listing currently running background processes such as updating news feeds or synchronizing databases. Use the apps’ built-in upgrade function or download the new versions from our Download page.
Some might not know but the documentation that is built into DEVONthink, DEVONnote, and DEVONagent Pro was always also available as PDF. But after the relaunch of our website they looked strangely old-fashioned I have to admit. In the last few weeks I reworked the layout and adapted it to our new design. And, as I was at it, I dropped the landscape-oriented PDF for reading on the screen in favor of an ebook. (mehr)
After the update to the “DEVONthink Arbeitsbuch” Take Control Publishers have released version 2.o of Take Control of Getting Started with DEVONthink 2. The new version has expanded in length by nearly 50 pages over the first version and helps you: … (mehr)
Rich text (RTF) is great for text with different fonts, sizes, or colors. The Style panel allows you to save often-used styles and apply them again with a few clicks but it’s not really an example of the Mac’s famous user-friendliness. Power user Alfred Schlatter sent us a tip for adding convenient keyboard shortcuts to styles to make your life with rich text easier: … (mehr)
Adding the ability to ‘rate’ items in DEVONthink, e.g. with stars, is already on our to-do list. Forum user Truhe couldn’t wait and simply used labels for his ratings. To create your own ratings use e.g. the Unicode characters ☆ and ★ to name the labels from ★★★★★ to ☆☆☆☆ and set the colors to support the rating. To enter the stars use the menu command Edit > Special Characters, switch to Bullets/Stars and double-click the symbol you’d like to insert. (mehr)
