After over a year Apple has finally reviewed and approved the latest update to DEVONthink Personal for the App Store. For a long time DEVONthink in the App Store stayed at version 2.3.4 whereas on our website we were already at 2.7.2. The reason: shortly after we released version 2.3.4, Apple required all applications in the App Store to implement a technology called “sandboxing”. (mehr)

Right before Thanksgiving, the official start of the holiday season in the States, we have put together a big bag of updates for almost all their apps. From DEVONthink to DEVONthink To Go, DEVONnote and DEVONagent, there are new convenient features as well as reliability and performance improvements. Today we have updated the find-file utility EasyFind, our image converter and thumbnail generator ThumbsUp, as well as the customizable menulet XMenu with new localizations, adjustments for Mavericks, and bug fixes. Last night Apple has sent DEVONthink To Go 1.4.1 through their review and to the App Store. This maintenance update fixes a crash introduced with the previous version which was caused by the reworks necessary for supporting the new CPU architectures of recent iPhones and iPads. Use the App Store app on your device to get the free update.

Today Apple has approved our maintenance update for DEVONthink To Go. Version 1.4 updates the app to the modern iOS 7 interface while keeping it backward-compatible to iOS 5 and 6 at the same time. It also fixes a number of issues on iOS 7 as well as synchronization problems with the Mac. Fixed are, among others, a crash related to the rich text editor, Numbers documents no longer being displayed, name changes not being synced back to the Mac, crashes related to deleting items on the Mac, and issues with deleting databases. Last week we released DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.7 with exciting new features such as encrypted synchronization. Unfortunately the update also “featured” two hindering issues: When the Sorter starts after logging in, e.g. after a system restart, DEVONthink itself opens in addition to the Sorter. And if your Mac runs OS X 10.6.x or 10.7.x, DEVONthink is no longer visible to DEVONthink To Go on your Wi-Fi network. (mehr)

We have just released DEVONthink (all editions) and DEVONnote 2.7 with great new features and improvements. DEVONthink 2.7 now encrypts all metadata and all contents stored in remote sync locations such as Dropbox, WebDAV, or AFP. No other document management app on the Mac gives you so much flexibility and control over you data! (mehr)

With todays update to version 3.5.2 we finally welcome DEVONagent Pro to the brave new world of sandboxing, now the prerequisite for distribution through the App Store. The update also cleans up some aspects of the user interface by hiding rarely used or unavailable options, and improves compatibility to some websites. The Download Manager adds the URL of downloaded items to their Finder/Spotlight metadata. (mehr)

We promised to offer all our commercial apps also in our own online shop. Today we kept the promise by adding DEVONsphere Express to our shop and making a free trial version available as we do for all our apps. Version 1.5 brings also additional enhancements and bug fixes. If you purchased your copy in the Mac App Store and ran version 1.4 or later at least once you can also replace your copy with one downloaded from our website. It will happily accept the existing Mac App Store receipt as a valid license.

You didn’t know that there are step-by-step tutorials available right from inside our apps? You’re not alone and so we have made them more visible in DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.3.5 with a large button on the welcome screen and their own menu command in the Help menu. And if you fight the email flood with Apple Mail rules, you’ll like our new scripts for automatically archiving email attachments. Once set up you can email documents to yourself and have them automagically added to your inbox — and you have full control over which messages are processed and which not. (mehr)
