Grid is Now Open-Source

Recently we had to pull the freeware application Grid from the App Store. Grid allows you to position windows using your keyboard and an on-screen grid. Unfortunately Apple’s strict sandboxing rules no longer allow third-party apps access to e.g. the Accessibility kit which Grid needs to move the windows. (mehr)

DEVONthink 2.8.11: Better OCR Metadata Panel & More

Just a quick note that we have just released DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.8.11. The update brings, among many more detail enhancements, a revised view/edit pane and better compatibility to RSS 1.0 feeds. Automatically opened panels such as the Activity or Log panels are no longer activated by default. This way they don’t unnecessarily interrupt your workflow. (mehr)

First Testers Receive DEVONthink To Go 2.0 Beta

On February 26th we announced that we’ll soon start beta testing DEVONthink To Go 2.0 with a limited number of testers. Today we added the first batch of testers to Test Flight. Over the course of the next weeks we’ll add batch by batch. (mehr)

DEVONthink To Go 1.5.8 Fixes RTF Issues

Today Apple released our DEVONthink To Go 1.5.8 update to the App Store. The maintenance update fixes issues with RTF and RTFD due to changes in iOS 8.3 as well as a few rare crashes. Update your copy from within the App Store app on your device or through iTunes.

We promised to keep you updated on our progress with DEVONthink To Go 2.0 and our new sync technology. Two days ago we released beta 10 to our beta testers. The last new beta testers received their Test Flight invitations today. (mehr)

E-Books, either as PDFs or ePub, establish themselves more and more for technical literature. Starting with version 2.8.5 DEVONthink indexes ePub and iBooks books natively and lets you convert them if you need to. Better annotations make working with PDFs more comfortable. And the faster and more secure web server lets you work better together with your coworkers stuck on Windows. (mehr)

Need to Move a File? Yoink It!

There are many times we need to move a file from one place to another. On Macs with larger screens, you can easily open and arrange windows to drag and drop between them. However, if you’re on a laptop or don’t have the luxury of using a second monitor, this is often not an easy task. Often we resort to using Spaces in Mission Control to give ourselves as much space per application as we can. This can make file moving even trickier. (mehr)

This year we’ve sponsored the initiative 2North4South by All Shapes and Sizes, in part organized by Fred Sarran. Last weekend they did their non-stop 24 hour walk from from Fraserburgh in Scotland to Aberdeen. Watch a video about their great project on www.asascharity.org.

Our applications have always come with a user interface localized to German, our user forum has a German language board, and our sales support is happy to reply pre-sales questions in German, too. Starting today also our website is available fully localized. So if you are from Germany, Austria or Switzerland or speak German of other reasons feel free to click the new little German flag at the bottom of our website to read our solution descriptions, product pages, etc. all in German language. DEVONthink 2.8.10 with Workflow Enhancements

Today we’ve released version 2.8.10 of DEVONthink and DEVONnote. The update adds support for Airmail 2 and accepts videos, e.g. from the Photos application, via the sharing extension.

DEVONthink 2.8.10 also offers new contextual menu commands for HTML 5 videos, e.g. played in a web view. Conveniently copy links to the videos or download the video files to your Mac using the contextual menu. When verifying your databases all editions detect more issues than before and are able to repair them. Read more in our news release. (mehr)
