DEVONthink To Go 3.2

September 15, 2021 — Eric Böhnisch-Volkmann

The second feature update for DEVONthink To Go 3 brings DEVONthink’s reading list to iOS. It also extends the search language, lets you fully customize the way documents are listed, and adds some of the most popular Markdown extensions.

Use the reading list to keep references to documents for reading at a later time. It synchronizes with other instances of DEVONthink and DEVONthink To Go, supports drag-and-drop, the context menu, and more.

New search operators known from DEVONthink for Mac let you filter search results, e.g., by kind, extension, label, rating, URL, date, size, character count, and word count, as well as various statuses like flagged or unread. Use the Mac syntax for the NEAR operator, change the sort order of found results, and recall recent searches.

When browsing databases, enhanced view options (only available on iOS 14 or later) sort and filter the list of groups and documents in many new ways. Combine multiple filters if needed. Adjust the summary below an item’s name, from what information is displayed to the number of lines and the additional property icons. Everything you set for a group is inherited by its subgroups, each option individually; smart groups and search results have their own view options.

If you are a Markdown enthusiast you will like the built-in support for MathJAX, Prism, and Mermaid. Other enhancements include slightly rearranged Settings, a context menu command for opening databases and groups in grid view, and improved Shortcuts support.

You can find a complete list of all changes by choosing ?⃝ > Release Notes on the database screen. We recommend this free update to all users of DEVONthink To Go. Get it from the Updates area of the App Store.
