If you use our browser extension, Clip To DEVONthink, you’ll see a notification after a successful clip. If you check the Notification Center, the icon of three lines on the right side of the menubar at the top of your screen, you can see a record of those clips. One of the coolest features in Microsoft Excel is the ability to link a spreadsheet to a delimited text file (like comma- or tab-delimited) in the Finder. This allows you to populate and update the spreadsheet with the data from the text file without having to type in the data yourself. When the text file changes, Excel reflects this change in the spreadsheet too. (more)

Our synchronization technology for DEVONthink and DEVONthink To Go supports direct connections via the local network, Dropbox, and WebDAV.

WebDAV is a standard protocol for connecting to file services over the internet. You can mount WebDAV servers in the Finder just like a remote hard drive, upload and download files, or move things around. It’s a solid standard and DEVONthink can use it for managing its sync stores, folders containing all the files needed for synchronizing one or more databases between multiple devices. (more)

Part of setting up a DEVONthink sync to Dropbox is making sure you don’t re-download the sync data unnecessarily. If you don’t exclude the DEVONthink Packet Sync folder in the Dropbox application on your Mac, it will download what our sync has just uploaded. This wastes bandwidth and space on your machine. It may also spam your machine with messages about files being changed. (more)

You can only use one Dropbox account in DEVONthink or DEVONthink To Go. This means you need to pick an account to use for syncing. But perhaps you started with one account and have now decided to use another one. Or maybe you want to share sync data with someone else, using a common Dropbox account. One of the less noticed import options in DEVONthink is the ability to import contacts from your address book. There are three formats you can import in.
