With DEVONthink 2.4 we have introduced our new scanner/camera import window, and just yesterday we have released an update that makes scanning with Image Capture compliant flatbed scanners or all-in-one devices a lot more comfortable. Today we have published two new tutorials that guide you through the new scanner/camera import window (all editions of DEVONthink) and through setting up a Fujitsu ScanSnap document scanner for use with DEVONthink Pro Office. Check them both out directly in DEVONthink (Help > Tutorials).
DEVONthink’s new scanning function unified the various scanning options of previous versions and made paper capture available also for users of the Personal and Pro editions. But users are still missing some of the more advanced options, for example convenient capturing of documents with multiple pages. DEVONthink 2.4.2, which we have released today, supports the option Combine Into Single Document whenever you scan as PDF or TIFF. Just name the document and start scanning; DEVONthink creates a new document for you that you just have to send to your database when you’re done with all pages. (more)
Today we’ve released a maintenance update for all editions of DEVONthink and DEVONnote. The new versions bring, depending on their edition, importing items from BareBones Yojimbo, faster and more reliable email archiving, performance enhancements, and bug fixes. (more)
We have just released maintenance updates for all editions of DEVONthink and for DEVONnote fixing a few minor issues introduced with last week’s updates. The updates to DEVONthink resp. DEVONnote 2.4.1 are recommended for all users using an Intel-based Mac running OS X 10.6.8 or later. (more)
David Sparks and Katie Floyd of Relay FMs’s Mac Power Users podcast talk about tools and workflows for professionals in episode 169 and also mention DEVONthink.
David and Katie talk to Dr. Jeffery Taekman, a physician, researcher and educator at Duke. Jeff takes us through his various workflows for getting work done in his profession including using his iPad in his medical practice. (more)
The mountain lion is roaring and we all have heard its call. The update to version 2.4 tames the cat for all editions of DEVONthink and DEVONnote and feeds it with support for Notification Center and the new sharing services. Share documents with one click via iMessage, Mail, Twitter, Facebook, or Airdrop or add them to Safari’s Reading List. The update also brings a completely rewritten scan feature that’s available for DEVONthink Personal and Pro, too. And, of course, we have improved many other details and fixed bugs. (more)
Do you think about going paperless, e.g. with a document scanner and DEVONthink Pro Office? David Sparks’ field guide Paperless gets you started with everything you need to know from why you should paperless to a selection of tools and David’s own paperless workflow. (more)
After over a year Apple has finally reviewed and approved the latest update to DEVONthink Personal for the App Store. For a long time DEVONthink in the App Store stayed at version 2.3.4 whereas on our website we were already at 2.7.2. The reason: shortly after we released version 2.3.4, Apple required all applications in the App Store to implement a technology called “sandboxing”. (more)
Quite a few people have asked whether our apps are compatible with OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion or not. As we are always updating our apps quickly for any new OS X release if there are issues we didn’t find it worth mentioning. But, just in case: There are some smaller issues of especially DEVONthink Pro Office with Mountain Lion, e.g. the not functioning Mail plugin (see below). But all in all all of our are working also on OS X 10.8. We will publish maintenance updates for all our apps, which will, of course, be also properly signed and so produce no Gatekeeper warnings.
