The maintenance release indexes items without searchable text locally, e.g. email synchronized from DEVONthink Pro, and enhances the way it handles the keyboard when searching. It also improves the reliability of retrieving web page thumbnails, the progress indication when verifying and cleaning sync stores, and the overall reliability and performance of the synchronization. Last week Bloomberg Businessweek published an article named The Big Hack. The authors claim that testers have found a tiny microchip on server mainboards that wasn’t part of the original designs:

During the ensuing top-secret probe, which remains open more than three years later, investigators determined that the chips allowed the attackers to create a stealth doorway into any network that included the altered machines. Multiple people familiar with the matter say investigators found that the chips had been inserted at factories run by manufacturing subcontractors in China. (mehr)

With our maintenance update 2.9.16 for DEVONthink we focused on enhancing the built-in synchronization. We now let you import multiple databases at the same time from a sync location and pending items are automatically downloaded from the next available location. (mehr)

We have just released maintenance updates for all three editions of DEVONthink popup: true as well as for DEVONnote popup: true. The update improves the reliability of synchronization, clipping with the Clip To DEVONthink browser extension as well as the bookmarklets, and many other parts of the apps. Version 2.0.2 of DEVONthink To Go which became available yesterday unveiled an issue that unfortunately didn’t surface even in our beta tests. In some situations it’s currently not possible to synchronize due to ‘pending files’. We have immediately sent a bug-fix release to Apple which is now waiting for Apple’s App Store review. (mehr)

We know how important a robust sync is. And so here’s another maintenance release for both DEVONthink for Mac as well as DEVONthink To Go. We’ve made synchronizing to e.g. WebDAV or Dropbox up to 3.7 times faster. Direct connections via the local network are more reliable now too and during a sync you can see which database is being synchronized.
