DEVONthink 3.9.3

September 23, 2023 — Eric Böhnisch-Volkmann

Today’s update for DEVONthink for Mac is, as always, not only a maintenance update with bug fixes and performance enhancements. It also improves quoting, working with custom metadata, viewing computer code in Markdown, and preserving image quality when running PDFs through OCR.

For your quoting needs, a new command allows you to copy selected text including an item link to the source document. This makes it easy to insert a quote into another text, even another app, with a robust reference (item link) back to the original document.

Version 3.9.3 also lets you view and edit custom metadata on multiple selected documents. In Markdown documents, Prism support now includes syntax highlighting for the C#, Rust, and AWK languages, and on Apple silicon Macs it is possible to preserve the original page image when running OCR, retaining the original resolution and quality. A few new scripts let you handle rich text content or change the case of item names.

Amongst the other improvements, we have again made modifications to prevent potential PDF text layer corruption. This also enhances performance when working on larger documents. And, of course, DEVONthink 3.9.3 support macOS Sonoma and further enhances performance and reliability.

You can find a complete list of all improvements by choosing Help > Release Notes inside the application. We recommend this free update to all users of DEVONthink for Mac. Get it by using the application’s update function or from our Download page.
