DEVONthink 3.9.5

February 15, 2024 — Eric Böhnisch-Volkmann

A new version of DEVONthink is available with a whole bunch of quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and performance enhancements. For example, DEVONthink 3.9.5 brings initial support for the Arc web browser, and a new bookmarklet lets you conveniently capture web pages as formatted notes. The bookmarklets also retrieve the page’s HTML code which improves clipping pages behind paywalls.

Other improvements include annotating PDFs being again more reliable and importing from Evernote using less resources and retaining text added by OCR. If you’re a Markdown enthusiast you will appreciate more robust handling of your documents, including improvements to adding images. You can now also undo or redo some document metadata changes, e.g., adding Finder comments.

For the automators, DEVONthink 3.9.5 has improved AppleScript and JavaScript for Automation (JXA) support, and item links get a new URL parameter that lets you open a document in a new tab. If you share your Mac with others and need to watch your privacy, a new hidden preference keeps search queries from showing up in other apps, e.g., EasyFind.

You can find a complete list of all improvements by choosing Help > Release Notes inside the application. We recommend this free update to all users of DEVONthink for Mac. Get it by using the application’s update function or from our Download page.
