Through the built-in Support Assistant we have offered slideshow-based tutorials for DEVONthink, DEVONnote, and DEVONagent Pro for a while now. Today I have added the first batch of video tutorials for DEVONthink Pro (Office). The tutorials explain step-by-step how to work with multiple databases in DEVONthink, adjust the database and import properties, and import and index files. Additional tutorials about tagging and using the smart A.I. features of DEVONthink are already in the works.

With todays update to version 3.5.2 we finally welcome DEVONagent Pro to the brave new world of sandboxing, now the prerequisite for distribution through the App Store. The update also cleans up some aspects of the user interface by hiding rarely used or unavailable options, and improves compatibility to some websites. The Download Manager adds the URL of downloaded items to their Finder/Spotlight metadata. (more)

A few months ago I got into contact with Dr. Frank Thissen, lecturer at the Stuttgart Media University (Hochschule der Medien, HdM) in Germany. We promised to offer all our commercial apps also in our own online shop. Today we kept the promise by adding DEVONsphere Express to our shop and making a free trial version available as we do for all our apps. Version 1.5 brings also additional enhancements and bug fixes. If you purchased your copy in the Mac App Store and ran version 1.4 or later at least once you can also replace your copy with one downloaded from our website. It will happily accept the existing Mac App Store receipt as a valid license.

You didn’t know that there are step-by-step tutorials available right from inside our apps? You’re not alone and so we have made them more visible in DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.3.5 with a large button on the welcome screen and their own menu command in the Help menu. And if you fight the email flood with Apple Mail rules, you’ll like our new scripts for automatically archiving email attachments. Once set up you can email documents to yourself and have them automagically added to your inbox — and you have full control over which messages are processed and which not. (more)

You may know that I like to work from places other than my office, e.g. from our local coffee shop. This summer we finally completed the renovation of our old garden house: a new roof, new door and windows, carpet, painted walls, electricity and (via D-LAN) Internet. Completed by a baroque-style secretary it now makes a nice little retreat from the everyday office and family madness. (more)

Just a quick note that we have updated the scripts Rename using RegEx and Export Metadata as CSV, which are available as manual downloads through the built-in Support Assistant. To install these scripts choose Scripts > More Scripts, search the script in the list, and click Install. If you have the script already installed, remove it first, then re-install it to get the new version.
