DEVONthink 2.10.1 Improves Sync, Brings Fixes for Mojave

This maintenance release brings DEVONthink and DEVONnote to version 2.10.1. We have focused much of our efforts on making syncing use less resources, increasing its reliability, and syncing frequent changes more quickly. We have improved indexing EPUB and Tinderbox files, and have better support for text clipping created with macOS Sierra and later. (more)

DEVONthink Adds iCloud Sync

Sychronization via iCloud was the no. 1 feature request on our list. And here we go: DEVONthink 2.10 and DEVONthink To Go 2.6 let you keep your databases in sync via iCloud and without entering anything except for the optional encryption password. No messing around with sync store names, server addresses, or login credentials. Add the iCloud sync location, check off the databases you want to sync, done. It can’t be any easier. (more)

AppStories Goes Serious about DEVONthink

In their latest episode of their excellent podcast AppStories Federico Viticci and John Voorhees discuss DEVONthink for Mac and iOS at length.

They explain what they use our software for in their daily life, how they structured their databases, and which platform they personally prefer. Federico and John also talk about their clipping workflows and how they automate them using URL commands and Apple’s Workflow app. (more)

DEVONthink to Adopt Blockchain Technology

The most-discussed new technology in the last few years is clearly the Blockchain. While it’s best known as the basis for Bitcoin it’s main advantage is its highly decentralized approach to data storage. Data is added in encrypted form to a robust chain of byte blocks that make tempering with it impossible. Reliable versioning comes with the approach as a free extra, and as all data is not only stored locally but also on an uncountable number of other computers world-wide data loss is something no longer worth thinking about. A User's Journey into DEVONthink: The Future

The following are some thoughts on what I think could be added to or improved in DEVONthink Pro Office (DTPO) or DEVONthink To Go (DTTG2). From this series of blog posts you will have guessed that I am a big fan of this software. It has genuinely made life so much easier for me (especially academically) and even after a good few months of daily use, some of the features I come across still surprise and delight with their simplicity and logical manner! Still, anyone using a piece of software to this extent will occasionally think ‘I wish it did this’ or ‘wouldn’t it be good if’, so here is my collection of those moments. (more)
