DEVONthink 2.9.6 and DEVONthink To Go 2.0.5

DEVONthink 2.9.6, which we have just released, brings another bunch of workarounds for issues related to macOS Sierra’s broken PDF engine and scanner support. Both DEVONthink and DEVONnote also add new conditions to smart groups and honor metadata provided by ELO Office. The sharing extension for DEVONthink supports images, e.g., from web browsers, and uses less energy. DEVONthink Pro Office 2.9.14 Fixes OCR Issue

Today we’ve released a bug-fix release for DEVONthink Pro Office. Version 2.9.14 fixes a random issue with the text recognition (OCR) as well as issues related to thumbnailing PDFs, exporting items, and synchronizing databases with indexed items. In addition it fixes an issue where the metadata entry panel didn’t close on computers with a Touch Bar. (more)

Switch From Google Reader to DEVONthink Pro

Today Google announced that they would shut down their online RSS reader service Google Reader on July 1, 2013. So if you are a Google Reader subscriber looking for an alternative you may not yet know that DEVONthink Pro and Pro Office are excellent news reader, too! (more)

DEVONthink 2.9.13 with Better Decluttering and Markdown Support

Today, in the heat of the summer, we’ve released another round of updates for DEVONthink and DEVONnote.

For version 2.9.13 we’ve updated our decluttering service for clipping articles from the web. In addition we’ve rearranged a few menu commands for clarity and improved importing bookmarks from Google Chrome. If you work in science or education you might like that you can now copy references also from Bookends purchased in the Mac App Store. (more)

Early Summer Updates: DEVONthink 2.9.12 and DEVONagent 3.9.7

DEVONthink To Go 2.1.5 was first with an update, today it’s the turn of DEVONthink, DEVONagent, and DEVONnote to receive an overhaul.

DEVONthink Pro and Pro Office 2.9.12 allow you to copy a universal URL for databases. Previously item links were only available for groups and documents. Link to other documents or to resources such as images and CSS files from Markdown documents with absolute paths too. Zoom or rotate images with trackpad gestures, set a reminder to a custom date, and access the subgroups of your Favorites in contextual, action, or popup menus. Finally, DEVONthink and DEVONnote 2.9.12 let you zoom in and out of web pages with gestures. (more)

Ready for Yosemite: DEVONthink & DEVONnote 2.8

OS X Yosemite, the newest incarnation of your Mac’s operating system, is about to be released. Version 2.8 prepares all editions of DEVONthink as well as DEVONnote for it with user interface adjustments and compatibility fixes. DEVONthink 2.8 also comes with a brand new sharing extension. It allows you to clip text and web addresses from other Mac apps with a single click in case you like this better than using drag-and-drop. (more)

New Series: A User's Journey Into DEVONthink

I first came across DEVONthink whilst working through one of the periodic urges I get to review and make changes to my digital organisation habits, Again I had become disillusioned with the futile search for ‘one app to rule them all’. I was a longtime user of Evernote, however I’d never been quite satisfied with its storage of files within notes (I’m unable to explain this rationally), and the recent move to limit the usage of free account holders hampered my workflow, which is part personal, part work and across several devices. Fujitsu Publishes Fix Schedule for macOS Sierra Problems
