DEVONthink 3.5.1

June 11, 2020 — Eric Böhnisch-Volkmann

Today we’ve released the first maintenance update for the DEVONthink 3.5 line of our document and information manager for the Mac with many detail enhancements and fixes.

DEVONthink 3.5.1 makes, e.g., the Navigate sidebar better usable and more reliable with non-unified databases. You can also now manually sort the items in the Reading List with drag-and-drop, and the Go To and Move To popovers let you use quotes to reduce the number of matches by disabling fuzzy search.

If you are using custom metadata and annotation files, your custom annotation templates now support placeholders. Use them, e.g., to show metadata from the original file in the annotation. In the paperless office you’ll like that OCR loads documents faster now and lets you change the DPI resolution for the to-be-created PDF.

Finally, for all the automators among you, we have made some improvements to the AppleScript support and smart rules in DEVONthink 3.5.1. Logging includes the record as a property, a new command lets you retrieve the favicon from HTML, and retrieving the base properties of a record is faster now.

As always the update improves also the overall performance and reliability, and fixes bugs.

You can find a complete list of all improvements by choosing Help > Release Notes inside the application. We recommend this free update to all users of DEVONthink 3. Get it directly by using the application’s update function or from our Download page.
