A few weeks ago Apple announced OS X 10.9 Mavericks and so here’s our first release of DEVONthink and DEVONnote optimized for the upcoming new version of your favorite operating system! But that’s, of course, not enough. DEVONthink 2.6 adds automatic updating of indexed folders, and directly imports references from Bookends and notes from Evernote. (more)
DEVONthink and Bookends work nicely together: DEVONthink Pro and up come with a smart template for quickly linking to references in Bookends, accept references dragged over from your collection, and Bookends can store “item links” for any document in DEVONthink. This maintenance release brings DEVONthink and DEVONnote to version 2.10.1. We have focused much of our efforts on making syncing use less resources, increasing its reliability, and syncing frequent changes more quickly. We have improved indexing EPUB and Tinderbox files, and have better support for text clipping created with macOS Sierra and later. (more)
Sychronization via iCloud was the no. 1 feature request on our list. And here we go: DEVONthink 2.10 and DEVONthink To Go 2.6 let you keep your databases in sync via iCloud and without entering anything except for the optional encryption password. No messing around with sync store names, server addresses, or login credentials. Add the iCloud sync location, check off the databases you want to sync, done. It can’t be any easier. (more)
DEVONthink user and scientist Jim Falk has created a great little app to help him with his research work. The Mac app named FlunkeyFox facilitates using DEVONthink Pro (Office) together with Microsoft Word. (more)

The most-discussed new technology in the last few years is clearly the Blockchain. While it’s best known as the basis for Bitcoin it’s main advantage is its highly decentralized approach to data storage. Data is added in encrypted form to a robust chain of byte blocks that make tempering with it impossible. Reliable versioning comes with the approach as a free extra, and as all data is not only stored locally but also on an uncountable number of other computers world-wide data loss is something no longer worth thinking about.
